For the past three years, Volunteers of America Southeast’s (VOA Southeast) Housing Support Program (HSP) has partnered with the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) to help individuals living with serious mental illness achieve stable housing, greater independence, and lasting recovery.
Serving DBHDD Region 6, our team covers a vast 31-county area across West-Central Georgia—from Clay to Carroll and Muscogee to Houston Counties. Nine dedicated Case Managers and two Housing Support Specialists travel throughout the region, ensuring individuals receive the support, advocacy, and resources they need to build stable, successful lives.
That commitment to excellence was recently recognized in a significant way.
During the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) Housing Support Program Fidelity Monitoring Debrief, VOA Southeast earned an outstanding fidelity score of 109 out of 120—well above the 90-point benchmark required for high-fidelity designation.
The review highlighted the exceptional work of our team, including:
- Outstanding participant outcomes and satisfaction
- Strong, consistent documentation
- High-quality, person-centered service delivery
- A deep commitment to supporting every individual we serve
Perhaps the greatest recognition came from the feedback itself. State officials repeatedly praised the professionalism, dedication, and compassionate care demonstrated by our staff throughout the review process.
Building Stability One Person at a Time
At VOA Southeast, we believe a safe, stable home is the foundation for recovery and an enriched life. Our Housing Support Program helps individuals overcome barriers to housing while empowering them to achieve their personal goals through a comprehensive approach.
Securing Safe Housing
Our team helps participants locate affordable housing, navigate barriers to obtaining housing, and establish a safe, stable place to call home.
Setting Personal Goals
Working alongside each participant, we develop individualized short-term action plans while helping them pursue long-term aspirations that support independence and recovery.
Providing Ongoing Advocacy
Housing is only the beginning. Our Case Managers provide continued support by connecting individuals with community resources, advocating on their behalf, coordinating services, and helping them maintain long-term housing stability.
Lasting Impact Across Georgia
Every day, our Housing Support Program makes a meaningful difference through:
- Comprehensive Case Management that provides personalized guidance and advocacy.
- Connection to Community Resources that strengthens health, wellness, and independence.
- Individualized Support that helps participants achieve meaningful milestones and build brighter futures.
This recognition reflects much more than a score. It represents the compassion, expertise, and unwavering commitment of a team that understands housing is far more than shelter—it’s the foundation for hope, recovery, and opportunity.
We are incredibly proud of our Georgia Housing Support Program team for earning this well-deserved recognition. Their passion and professionalism continue to transform lives and strengthen communities across Georgia—one person, one home, and one success story at a time.
