Thanks to a generous partnership with Humana and the Humana Foundation, VOA Southeast is expanding access to recovery services for pregnant women and mothers and their children in South Georgia. Together, we are investing in a future where women are empowered to heal, reconnect with their families, and break the cycles of addiction and poverty for the next generation.

At the heart of this mission is the Pines Family Campus, a unique residential treatment program that provides whole-family care. From safe housing and on-site childcare to clinical therapy and reunification support, mothers have the opportunity to recover while remaining closely connected to their children.

The recent event highlights the incredible progress being made – progress made possible through compassion, partnership, and community support.

Healing Through Connection

In a recent WALB News 10 feature, Raquel Lyn shares her story of recovery. Pregnant with her third daughter and struggling with depression and guilt, Raquel found hope and healing at the Pines Family Campus.

“I stopped drinking before for a couple years, but I went back… and I can’t do that to my girls,” she said.

After entering treatment, she regained her faith, reconnected with her children, and began building a more stable future. VOA Southeast’s Family Focused Recovery model gave her the structure and support she needed—onsite daycare, licensed treatment, and the space to rebuild.

“You have to want it for yourself,” Raquel said. “If you really truly want it, you can do it.”

Celebrating Progress and Partnership

With support from Humana and the Humana Foundation, VOA Southeast recently celebrated several facility improvements at the Pines Family Campus. As reported in the Valdosta Daily Times, the upgrades were showcased during an open house and wellness event for residents.

The “Nurture and Nourish Day” event included yoga, massages, haircuts, and a nutrition class—all designed to nurture the mind and body. Visitors also toured newly renovated spaces, including a modernized kitchen and medical bay, reflecting a deeper commitment to whole-person recovery.

VOA Southeast President and CEO Rob Rogers remarked:

“Humana is putting money into the idea of reaching into these rural, more impoverished communities… and empower[ing] them to do more to serve more women.”
