BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. — Light of the City Summer Camp, a program of VOA Southeast, celebrated the conclusion of its 2026 summer season on July 29 with a joyful ceremony honoring campers, counselors, and the families who helped make the summer a success. The celebration highlighted a season filled with learning, friendship, faith, and personal growth for children across Baldwin County.
Recognizing a Summer of Achievement
The end-of-camp ceremony brought together campers, counselors, family members, volunteers, and community supporters to celebrate the accomplishments of everyone who participated in this year’s summer camp.
Each camper and counselor received an award certificate recognizing their commitment, participation, and the positive impact they made throughout the six-week program. The ceremony served as a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the friendships formed, lessons learned, and memories created during the summer.
Campers Share Their Faith Through Music
One of the most memorable moments of the celebration came as campers joined their counselors on stage to perform the worship songs they had been practicing throughout the summer. Their heartfelt performance of “Trust in God” was a powerful expression of the confidence, faith, and encouragement they developed together during camp.

About Light of the City
Since 2008, Light of the City, a ministry of VOA Southeast, has served children and families throughout Baldwin County, Alabama. The program provides free after-school tutoring, academic support, enrichment activities, mentoring, leadership development, and a six-week summer camp designed to help children succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Serving primarily children from low-income families, Light of the City creates opportunities for young people to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually in a safe, caring environment. Through positive mentors, engaging activities, and faith-centered programming, the organization helps children build confidence, character, and hope for the future.
